CRUZ-DIEZ | ANNIVERSARY MONTH: Carlos Cruz-DIez
A month to celebrate Cruz-Diez
To celebrate the anniversary month of Carlos Cruz-Diez, at Marión Art Gallery we have prepared a series of virtual exhibitions throughout August with representative works of his various investigations on color. Cruz-Diez was born in Caracas on August 17, 1923, and this month would have turned 97 years of a life dedicated to reinventing the way in which color was understood and used in art history.
Marión Art Gallery was founded ten years ago by the artist and his family in Panama City, as a complement to the Articruz studio, where he produced an important part of his recent work since 2009. For this reason, we have had the privilege of being the only gallery in the world with a permanent room dedicated to his work and we have also presented in our rooms the great installations with which Cruz-Diez demonstrated the unstable condition of color. Works usually reserved for the spaces of the main museums in the world, such as “Chromosaturation”, the “Environnement Chromointerférent” or the “Labyrinthe de Transchromie”, have been shown in our spaces.
We have prepared four exhibitions, one for each week of August: Two-dimensional work, Limited editions, Three-dimensional work and Graphic work. These are four formal approaches to understanding color in Cruz-Diez’s journey. Each of them will be available on the website artsy.net/marion-gallery, from where we have maintained contact with the public and with our collectors during these months of distancing.
We invite you to be part of this celebration in which we joyfully remember the master of color and his contributions to modern and contemporary art. Stay tuned to our social networks to know in detail everything we have prepared for you.
