RECENT WORKS: Liu Bolin
The city is our new territory, a meeting place and a space of creation par excellence, however, large cities are also hostile territories in which it is difficult for the individuals to find their own place in the midst of crowds, noise and large buildings.
The work of Liu Bolin (Shandong province, China 1973) is born from this observation: an individual can easily be ignored in the middle of large urban spaces.
His work, which initially had a strong protest charge against the system and against what he felt to be a hostile attitude of the Chinese government towards artists, later focused on the strange position of the individual in contemporary cities and within the consumer society.
