VITRAL DE OTAZU BY CARLOS CRUZ-DIEZ (2016)
INTERVENTION IN BOTTLE OF WINE FROM THE OTAZU WINERIES, NAVARRA, SPAIN.The Vitral de Otazu project is the result of a joint work between Bodega Otazu and Articruz, Carlos Cruz-Diez’s studio in Panama, from where the artist and his team made the designs, tests and prototypes, until reaching the final proposal. The result is a series of numbered works with different color harmonies for each vintage.
Cruz-Diez proposed a comprehensive design that includes a “Chromointerference” specially designed for Vitral de Otazu bottles. In these works, different layers of lines generate colors that are not in the support and that are modified before the viewer’s gaze. The art of wine and the art of color come together to create a unique experience in each bottle.
The Vitral de Otazu project represents the beginning of a thirty-year commitment and collaboration between Bodega Otazu and the Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez, who designed thirty different works called Cromointerferencia Otazu. Each of these pieces will accompany the 30 Vitral vintages, from the first in 2013 to the last in 2042. It is an extraordinary project that transcends the wine-making and artistic experience in time.
If you want to purchase this work and start the collection, you can write to @OtazuVenezuela's Instagram or go to the website www.bodegaotazu.es and check the available pieces of this project for lovers of good wine and art.
