LIU BOLIN IN PANAMA (2016)
PRODUCTION OF 3 PHOTOGRAPHSDuring May 2016, Chinese artist and photographer Liu Bolin carried out an ambitious project in Panama, in which, in just three days of intense work, he developed three of his famous photographs in which he uses paint on his clothes and face to disappear over the background of the image. The entire project, promoted by Marión Art Gallery of Panama and RGR + ART of Venezuela, was developed by Articruz studio, founded in Panama by Cruz-Diez in 2009 to carry out this own work and serve as a creation and production platform for other artists.
In the first photograph, Bolin hid 17 people, among volunteers and Panamanian personalities. In the second one, the photographer himself mimicked the gate of one of the new locks of the Panama Canal expansion. And finally, the work was completed with an iconic photograph of Liu Bolin and Carlos Cruz-Diez together, hidden in a work specially designed for the occasion by the Venezuelan artist, which recalls some of his best-known works, such as the one on the floor of the Maiquetía International Airport or the entrance walkways to the Miami Marlins Ballpark.
Achieving this project required an extensive work team with more than 50 people, including volunteers and Articruz collaborators. With such an extraordinary result, Articruz and Marión Art Gallery reiterate their commitment to excellence in the production of artworks and the promotion of artistic and cultural projects for artists and spectators from all over the world.
